The apartments in Áshamar were bought and intended for the residents of Grindavík in line with a memorandum with the government due to the evacuation in Grindavík.
Allocations at Bjarg in connection with apartments purchased for residents of Grindavík are based on:
a) postal code 240
b) waiting list number
c) family size
d) if certain conditions are met, they can be found here
If it is not possible to allocate to an applicant who is below the income and property limits according to Article 10 the owner of the apartment is allowed to rent it to a tenant who exceeds the income and property limits. Market rent may be demanded. However, such contracts must not be for a period longer than one year.
About the neighbourhood
Hamranes is a 25-hectare new development area located south of Skarðshlíðarhverfi and Vallarhverfi districts in Hafnarfjörður. Construction on the plots in Hamranes began in early 2021. The district is planned to have a primary school, two kindergartens, and a nursing home. Development in the district is underway and the original residents of the district have already moved in.
The location of the district is excellent with regard to outdoor activities in beautiful outdoor areas such as Ástjörn, Helgafell and Hvaleyarvatn. It is also close to Haukar at Ásvöllur.
