For the people from Grindavík
Bjarg íbúðafélag has confirmed the purchase of apartments intended for the people from Grindavík in line of understanding signed with the government due to the situation in Reykjanes.
People from Grindavík can have priority in allocation of these locations:
- 9 apartments at Áshamar 52, 221 Hafnarfjörður
- 18 apartments at Dalsbraut 1, Inni Njarðvík, 260 Reykjanesbær
23 apartments at Keilisholt 1, 190 Vogar
Applications are made on my pages on the company's website, login with electronic ID.
Applicants from Grindavík are asked to fill in information about union, family size, etc. The cost of registration on the waiting list at Bjarg is ISK. 1,500 and the registration fee will be refunded if there is no allocation.
In order to receive an allocation you must have been active on the labor market and a member of one of the unions within ASÍ or BSRB for a minimum of 16 out of the last 24 months and under a certain income- and property limit.
Allocations at Bjarg in connection with apartments purchased for residents of Grindavík are based on:
a) postal code 240
b) waiting list number
c) family size
d) if certain conditions are met, they can be found here
If it is not possible to allocate to an applicant who is below the income and property limits according to Article 10 the owner of the apartment is allowed to rent it to a tenant who exceeds the income and property limits. Market rent may be demanded. However, such contracts must not be for a period longer than one year.
If it is not possible to allocate to an applicant from Grindavík (a person on the list from "Almannavarnir" due to evacuation in Grindavík), the apartment can be allocated according to Bjarg's general rules regarding allocation. However, such contracts should not be made for longer period than 18 months.
